Our Mission

Bluenose-Ability Film Festival was created to provide opportunities for individuals of all ages, nations and identities to connect, share and gain a greater understanding of disability culture and awareness through the powerful, active medium of film. Every year we come together to celebrate and showcase a spectrum of voices unique to peoples living with disabilities by creating a platform that extends throughout our community and across the world. Film allows people to explore, portray and capture their views and lived experiences in an accessible way - whether you choose to use your cellphone's built in camera or your dusty reel-to-reel,  feel comfortable writing a script or are inspired by the spontaneity of everyday events. We extend an invitation to participants of all kinds: those who identify as persons living with disabilities, friends and families of those facing challenges or barriers in regards to mental or physical health, through to whoever else has a message to share - we want to hear from you.
